Q: How does the drumline usually score at competition?
A: Our band/drumline started competing 4 years ago. For the past 2 years the drumline and has scored "1"'s 5/6 times
and this past year ('04) scored all "1"'s between 85 and 89 acheiving 3rd and 2nd place in class AA.
Q: What does it take to be be on the drumline?
A: To be on the GWA drumline, you must:
Have an open summer and fall schedule, a great interest in drumming, a will to practice hard in and out
of rehearsal, and be in a band class the upcoming year.
Q: How often does the drumline practice?
A: The line practices about once a week in the spring before school ends, about 4 times over the summer (plus band camp),
and practices Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday during the Fall.
Q: What goes on at a competion?
A: Competions, held on Saturday in October and November, include a perfomance of your show, the viewings of other bands,
and the overall evaluatin and placement of the band and all it's sections.
Q: Who can tryout and if I try out, what can I tryout for?
A: Tryouts are open to all 7th-12th graders. The options of snare, bass, cymbals and possibly pit are open tho them.
(We only have one set of tenors).
Q: What should I know for tryouts?
A: You should contact Nigel or Kelsey for the needed music to play along wtih being able to display your technique
and skill.
